Studying Law at Sapienza

The study of law in universities encompasses all areas of the law system (private law, public law, criminal law, procedural law, labour law, commercial law and so on) and also includes the study of the juridical aspects of theoretical philosophy and history, as well as those of cooperation among countries.

Sapienza Faculty of Law offers the following study programmes:

that open up various job opportunities for its graduates: the practice of law, magistracy, civil service, notarial activity, legal advice in companies, banks and international organisations.

It’s right for you if…

Studying law gives the opportunity to develop a variety of skills and to explore many aspects of human life. It’s right both for those willing to improve their abstract thinking and for people enjoying practical problem-solving.

Studying Law is right for you if you have a good command of Italian, if you are able to identify the key points in bulky information, to argue and communicate concisely even complex ideas.

Studying Law is also a vocation: it’s right for you if you cultivate values such as equity and legality, if it comes naturally to you to be driven by a sense of justice when you witness a wrong, if you wish to leave a mark on the world surrounding you.

About us

Sapienza Faculty of Law has a long tradition, dating back to the origins of this university, and was in its heyday after 1870, when it established itself as one of the prominent centres for the study of law in the unified Italy.

Great Professors of the Italian and European juridical science taught in this Faculty, according to a tradition that went on in time thanks to very strict selection criteria for teachers. Now there are also young researchers, who have given new impetus and enriched the educational offer of the Faculty, particularly with regard to specialist or state-of-the-art courses.

The Faculty has one of the major juridical libraries of Europe and offers a wide choice of professional master courses, advanced training courses and postgraduate courses.

Following tradition and looking to the future: it’s the first Faculty of Law, and the only one so far, to have started a degree programme in China as well.
