The main goal of the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering is to train professionals with a high cultural background, qualified to meet the society’s actual research and education requirements and having the suitable skills to promote and develop technological innovation processes in different cultural frameworks.
The Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering is currently divided into six departments:
The course programme is divided in bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes; all of them provide curricula for double-degree programmes and enable students to acquire the advanced skills ensuring a quicker search for job opportunities. Educational activities include lectures and exercises, lab activities and a range of internships at companies or foreign universities, thanks to mobility programmes or to curricula for double-degrees and joint degrees.
Download the Faculty’s brochureIf you like to discover the infrastructure that makes our cities and towns work (bridges, buildings, transport and roads) or to work with artificial organs, surgical robots, advanced prosthetics, or new pharmaceutical drugs, if you enjoy figuring out circuits or building robots, designing and building planes, satellites, missiles and spacecraft, learning what makes a wind turbine work, or an air-conditioning unit, studying how to create fuel from vegetables, to develop sustainable nuclear energy or new drugs, plastics and fabrics, a degree in engineering may open up a world of opportunities.
Just about everything we rely on in our everyday lives was either invented, designed or produced by an engineer.
Studying civil and industrial engineering is right for you if you have problem-solving skills and an analytical thinking, if you like teamwork, if you have always millions of things in your head and a creative streak, if you are good at maths and science.
Discover "Conosci Te Stesso", the self-assessment questionnaire for orientation in SapienzaThe Faculty was created in 1817 by Pope Pius VII, according to the Viennese and Parisian model of the most renowned Schools of Engineering of that time. In 1935, after the Gentile Reform, the School became the Faculty of Engineering of Sapienza. More recently, its name has been changed again into Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering.
It has increasingly developed and extended in years the wealth of its course programmes.
However, the increase in the number of specialisations has not altered the core approach of the education provided: its sound scientific basis constitutes the ground which then branches out into specific fields whose variety is also linked to the development of society.
The Faculty’s headquarters are located in Via Eudossiana, on the Oppian Hill, but some educational and scientific activities are also carried out in other premises of Rome. In the last decades, some degree programmes have also been created in other Latium university campuses, such as those of Latina and Rieti.

Each Faculty has its own Service of Orientation and Tutorship (SOrT office) which provides information about the courses and in general about all didactic activities (courses, schedules, study plans, etc.) and a Student Secretary that takes care of the administrative management of your studies. You can ask them general information, calls for admissions, as well as career management and changes (transfers, interruptions, etc.), tuition fees and reimbursements.
Please follow the links below to visit the pages of these offices: during the indicated office hours you can talk to them in videoconference.
