Experimental sciences are aimed at explaining the phenomena of the world we live in, through the observation and the performance of lab experiments that are the starting point to elaborate theoretical models or to verify hypotheses. Their common ground is dealing with knowledge from a mathematical viewpoint.
Download the Faculty’s brochureIt could be useful to think over Leonardo’s thought:
«Study science first, and then carry on with practice, that is born from science. Those enchanted by practice without science are like the helmsman shipping without a helm or a compass, who will be never sure of the direction taken».
The requisites are therefore:
A typical feature of people devoted to science may be found in the following sentence, attributed to Albert Einstein:
«Everyone knew it was impossible, until a fool who didn’t know came along and did it».
This sentence effectively represents the positive unruliness of people who don’t accept to remain confined to the borders of what is already known. Here people learn how to pose questions and to find out answers in the best objective and exhaustive way. This enables students to take part in various areas of applied research and production, since a sound scientific mindset is valued and highly sought-after in all fields.

We remember in particular the historical character of Fra Luca Pacioli, one of the greatest mathematicians of his time and Leonardo’s friend, and Niccolò Copernico; as to the past century, we remember Enrico Fermi and “the Via Panisperna boys”, the street where once the scientific institutions were located.
The Faculty currently encompasses disciplines very different from each other as for study methods and subject-matters. Each field is in turn an expanding universe: it goes from the infinitely small to the infinitely big, from the study of natural phenomena to the design of supercomputers.
The Faculty of Science is an environment open to the outside world and to cultural exchanges. This is why it’s very important to breathe the university atmosphere and to take part in classroom exercises and labs. In addition, students are made available specialist libraries and reading rooms.

Each Faculty has its own Service of Orientation and Tutorship (SOrT office) which provides information about the courses and in general about all didactic activities (courses, schedules, study plans, etc.) and a Student Secretary that takes care of the administrative management of your studies. You can ask them general information, calls for admissions, as well as career management and changes (transfers, interruptions, etc.), tuition fees and reimbursements.
Please follow the links below to visit the pages of these offices: during the indicated office hours you can talk to them in videoconference.
