Studying Dentistry at Sapienza
The master’s degree programme in Dental School has a six-year duration and is divided in a first two-year period and a further three-year period. The first period is aimed at basic educational activities, thanks to which students learn the anatomy and functional basics of the human body and face up to problems linked to the doctor-patient relationship as well as to the principles of scientific methodology; the second period provides for the study of medical, surgical and specialist disciplines, with special regard to dental pathologies.
The last year is fully devoted to the acquisition of professional skills.
In the academic year 2022-2023, the degree programme in Dentistry and Dental Prosthodontics - Dentistry and dental prosthesis is activated, to be held in English.

Dealing with dentistry means doing an incredibly intimate job with the potential for great impact: focusing on a part of the body that influences one's confidence, general health, how you eat, sleep, drink, talk and how you are perceived by others.
It’s right for you first of all if you are focused on helping people, relieving unbearable pains, improving the aesthetic appearance of your patients and giving them self-esteem back, but also on restoring their masticatory functions or detecting a mouth cancer, thus saving lives.
This profession allows to care for and improve the quality of life of people of all ages, from children to elderly, by developing strong relationships and becoming a reference point for people and families.
It’s right for you also if you have hand skills. Dentistry is very manual, and although we often think of it as a science, it has definitely an artistic element: some of the characteristics of sculpturing, for example the precision, the respect paid to symmetry and cosmetics, are shared with dentistry!

About us
The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry represents the last stage of the long and complex evolution of Sapienza First Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and is currently made up of more than 10,000 students and 600 teachers, taking account of the 9 campuses located in the whole region. The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry organises many study programmes thanks to the synergies of its twelve departments, which represent the various fields of medical sciences.
In addition to this, there are many post-lauream programmes involving healthcare postgraduate schools for students enrolled in medical and non-medical programmes, many 1st and 2nd level professional master courses, advanced training courses and PhDs.
