The School for Advanced Studies (SSAS) is Sapienza college where outstanding students may benefit from free accommodation at housings made available by the University and attend additional interdisciplinary educational programmes concerning topics related to their study programme. The admitted students are also exempted from tuition fees and may apply for a scholarship.
The SSAS was founded in 2011 and belongs to the network of University Advanced Schools: some of them are independent, others are internal to universities, all constitute a qualifying factor of the Italian university system.
As part of the greatest Italian research university, the School for Advanced Studies places great emphasis on interdisciplinarity and in-depth study of the disciplines dealt with in its four academic areas.
Since 2014, it has carried on exchange programmes with the Scuola Normale di Pisa and the École Normale Supérieure of Paris.

In 2020-2021 academic year, there will be 46 programmes entirely taught in English in various disciplines of both bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes, in addition to over 250 programmes in Italian, aimed at international students and anyone.

Sapienza makes available simplified procedures for international students applying for bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes. The Special Master in Aerospace Engineering is a programme taught in English for students with a master’s degree in Engineering and aims to train experts who can find career opportunities in advanced research and development centres of aerospace engineering.
With us you can listen to music, play your favourite instrument and sing together with teachers and other students in MuSa – MusicaSapienza orchestras and choirs. We have classical, jazz and ethnic orchestras and also a choir.
The IUC - Concert University Institution programme turns the Aula Magna into a stage, where international young talents perform all the latest novelties of classical and jazz music.
The Theatron – Ancient theatre at Sapienza, with its project of translation and staging, allows to revive the unique experience of Greek and Latin classical theatre. Its performances are now known all over the world ….

We are aware that the consequences of the Covid-19 emergency have significantly altered the economic capacity of many families. The exemption thresholds are based on the family's economic situation indicator (ISEE), as detailed on the dedicated pages.
The full exemption also applies to those with a disability, to those who receive 100 or 100 cum laude at the baccalaureate (high school diploma), to winners of regional scholarships, to those who enroll in our Higher School of Advanced Studies. There are also concessions for families with multiple members enrolled in the university and for those with significant academic or sporting achievements.
